It is with sadness we announce the passing of William J. Simpson, 94, of Carmel, New York on February 12, 2022.
William was born on August 18, 1927 to William and Mary (Ortman) Simpson in Danbury, CT. He grew up on the family dairy farm and continued to work there after he graduated from Carmel High School in 1947. He also worked as a custodian for the Carmel School District until he retired in 1982.
Being a lifetime resident of the area, William knew all the local history and he loved to share stories about “back in the day” when he was growing up here and all the changes he experienced here. He loved reading about all the modern farm technology and found it endlessly fascinating. He loved being outdoors and working in his gardens, vegetable and flower. His faith was important to him and he was an active member of Gilead Presbyterian Church in Carmel, NY.
William will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY 10512.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate William’s life will take place at 11:30 A.M. following the visitation on Saturday, February 16, 2022 at Cargain Funeral Home.
William will be brought to his final resting place following the service at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY.
