Ronald Geiger

On Tuesday, May 5th 2020, Ronald Cary Geiger, Sr. entered into the kingdom of Heaven with God.

Ron was born on August 16th, 1941 to Charles and Anna Geiger at the New York Infirmary. He grew up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and excelled in sports, from running track at the Boy’s Club of NY to playing stickball in the streets. Ron graduated from George Westinghouse High School, Brooklyn NY in 1958. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1959, serving as a Radio Intelligence Operator and rose to the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. He was stationed in Adak, Alaska and Edzell, Scotland before being Honorably Discharged. Ron joined the NYPD in 1965. He was assigned to both the 48 and 43 Precincts. A highly decorated police officer, he was most proud of delivering ten babies while on duty. Ron served his community well and loved his country. Before retiring from the NYPD, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from New York Institute of Technology in 1980.

On September 18th, 1965 at St. Helena’s Roman Catholic Church, in the Bronx, NY, Ron married the love of his life, Rosalie Angela Ferrante. They are inseparable and proudly raised three children in Carmel, NY: Ronald Cary Geiger, Jr. (Diane), Justine Frances Rice, William Craig Geiger (Suzanne). They are blessed with nine grandchildren: Annie, Alexis, Hannah, Casey, Gabrielle, Ronnie, Nikki, Lucy, and Jack.

Ron was an avid fan of the New York Giants –both baseball and football. He loved movies (his favorite was The Fighting Sullivans) and family vacations in Wildwood, New Jersey. Most of all, Ron enjoyed spending time with Rosalie, his children, and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and remembered for the happiness that he brought to his family.

He is a GREAT Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Son.

Ron was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Carmel, NY and a member of the NYC PBA, NYPD St. George Association, Hudson Valley 10-13 Association, VFW Carmel, and American Legion Marne Post 270 Carmel.

In addition to Rosalie and his children, Ron is survived by his brother Charles Geiger and wife Margretta (Margie), many nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, Sailor.

He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Roy Geiger, along with his dogs Maxwell and Sheba.

There will be a Private Graveside Ceremony for immediate family with NYPD Honors at Raymond Hill Cemetery- Carmel, NY., May 11, 2020.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate and honor Ronald Sr.’s life will be held at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, NY., sometime in the future. Please check back. He will be greatly missed..
