Paula Sarrubbo

4/6/1934 – 3/24/2023

Paula Sarrubbo, 88, of Poughkeepsie, died on Friday, March 24, 2023, at home with her family by her side.

Born April 6,1934, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Ralph De Filippis and Fritzi.

After graduating high school, Paula worked for A & P Supermarket as a department manager for many years before her retirement.

Paula was an avid reader and a true conversationalist. She was abundantly engaging and, as a result, made connections with everyone she would meet. She took pleasure in cooking various Italian recipes to enjoy with her family. Paula also liked to knit, sew, and would even invent her own distinctive crochet patterns. She was progressive in her use of technology, playing word games on her iPad, streaming her favorite mystery programs, and texting funny messages and gifs to her family.

On December 5th, 1953, in Mt. Carmel Church, in the Bronx, she married Aniello “Sonny” Sarrubbo, by whom she is predeceased.

Together with Aniello, Paula took pleasure in her trips to Atlantic City, playing slots, strolling the boardwalk, and taking in a show. Later in her life, Paula relished in being a vivacious, committed grandmother.

Paula’s family remembers her as a powerful, affecting force. She will be forever missed.

She is survived by her three children, Angela Farley and husband Stephen, Barbara Goldberg and husband Richard; Dawn Eberhart and husband Bill; five grandchildren Gregory Farley, Katherine Farley, Neil Goldberg, Rachel Goldberg, David Goldberg.

Along with her parents, she was also predeceased by her son, Neil Sarrubbo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am on Thursday March 30th, 2022, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. 97 Mill St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Burial will follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel.
