It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marianne Smith, of Carmel, NY., on July 3, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Marianne was born October 7, 1941 in Yonkers, NY to the late Frank J. and Mary (Divi) Gorey. She graduated from Gorton High School in 1959 and was a Life member of the 59ers Social Club.

Marianne worked for Anaconda Wire and Cable Company in Hastings, NY, where she met the love of her life and wonderful husband, Dave Smith. They were married September 28, 1963 in Yonkers. Then a little later they both were blessed with two adoring children, David and Ann Marie. Marianne stayed home to take care of their children for a time, but then worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Carmel Central School District for nine years, and for 15 years at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Danbury CT. She retired in 1997.

Marianne loved to garden, and was an avid reader. But spending time with her 6 grandchildren was her joy. She gave everything to ensure their happiness, and taught them how to be loving, kind and caring people. They will miss her smile, her hugs and the many gifts and treats she shared with them over the years. She was a loyal NY Giants and NY Mets fan, even through the tough years. Many knew Marianne as Cookie, an affectionate name given to her by her father when she was young.

She will mostly be remembered for her endless love and devotion and to her family and friends.

Marianne is survived by her Beloved husband Dave. Her loving children, Son, David (Jennifer) Smith of Northfield, MA., daughter, Ann Marie Bagley of Naugatuck, CT.
