Guenther “bob” kuehn

5/24/1936 – 12/13/2020

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Guenther Robert Kuehn, age 84, of Carmel, NY on December 13, 2020.

Robert was born on May 24, 1936 in New York City to Konrad and Rosa Monika (Paul) Kuehn. He was fortunate to have married the love of his life, Eleanor Braun on October 5, 1957 at St. Benedict’s Church in the Bronx. Robert and Eleanor were blessed with two incredible children.

Robert was a proud member of the New York Police Department for more than 34 years until he retired in 1996. He also served proudly for 9 year as a sergeant in the New York National Guard.

Family, faith and community – in that order – were very important to Robert. He was an active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Somers, NY where he was an usher for 8:00 A.M. Mass. Robert was a member of the Brewster Elks Lodge, Southeast Senior Center, and Club Bavaria. He was also an avid model train enthusiast.

Roberts’s greatest passion, however, was the Boy Scouts. He was a 60-year veteran who started with the Boy Scouts as a young boy and remained active his entire life. Over the years he was a member of Troop 145 Bronx, Troop 182 Bronx, Troop 1 North Salem and Troop 4 Purdy’s. He held such positions as Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Treasurer, Committee member and Merit Badge Counselor. Robert was also a committee member in Catholic Scouting and attended many, many camping trips, summer camp and special events. He received the Silver Beaver and Bronze Pelican Awards. He was most proud of being the father and grandfather of Eagle Scouts.

Robert’s beloved wife, Eleanor, predeceased him in 2011. He is survived by his much-loved children, Annamarie and William Allcot and John and Susan Kuehn. His four cherished grandchildren, Stephen Allcot, Kimberly Allcot, John Kuehn Jr. and Ashley Kuehn all survive him as well. He is also survived by his brother Harold Kuehn.

Robert will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and knew him.
