It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of George Robert Mezzone, 85, of Kent Lakes, NY on February 24, 2023.
George was born on September 19, 1937 in the Bronx, NY to Lambert and Beatrice Mezzone. He graduated from Evander Childs High School in 1955. He married his beloved wife, Joan Abbott on November 26, 1960 and they were blessed with a wonderful son, Robert.
George was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend. He worked as a Roofer for Local 8 in New York City until he retired. He also proudly served as a member of the Army National Guard earlier in his life.
George loved creating things with wood, working outside in the yard and spent the past two decades, until a few weeks prior to his passing, helping his son renovate his house. He also loved helping at St. James Church
George is survived by his beloved wife, Joan and his son Robert George Mezzone and his girlfriend Terri. He is also survived by his brother Robert Mezzone.
He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
A Mass of Christian Rite to honor George’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY.
Following the Mass, George will be escorted to his final resting place at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY.
